What is an OCT?
An OCT scan enables us to view the health of your eyes in greater detail, by allowing us to see what is going on behind the eye that we cannot see when your optician looks into your eye.
We are able to look at the structures and get a clearer idea of eye health.
Annual myopia progression rate is most rapid under 10 years of age. Significantly greater rates of progression can be seen, especially in children with high myopia. If left untreated, myopia can lead to lasting vision problems.
We now have an innovative spectacle lens made by Hoya that now allows us to manage myopia progression.
Nothing is more important than the health and well-being of your child, and you may have noticed your child struggling to see clearly at a distance. Your child may have myopia, also called short-sightedness. If left untreated in children, myopia can lead to significant and lasting vision problems in the future.
Today, in most cases, myopia is corrected with standard single vision spectacle lenses, providing clear and sharp vision. However, single vision spectacle lenses do not help to manage myopia by slowing down myopia progression. When myopia increases by 1 diopter, there is a 58% increased risk of future eye-related disease.
